Construction starts on new Gislebadet in Gislaved – SEK 341 million project

Construction of the new Gislebadet swimming facility in the Gisle area of Gislaved has officially begun. The start was marked on 14 August 2026 with a ceremony attended by representatives from the project, local associations, the municipality and residents. Groundworks also began during August, making the construction phase increasingly visible on site. The new swimming centre is one of Gislaved Municipality's major construction projects and is intended to replace older swimming facilities that have reached the end of their technical service life. The facility is being developed for activities including fitness swimming, swimming lessons, family recreation, rehabilitation and sports associations. Plans include a 25-metre competition pool with eight lanes designed to meet Swedish Swimming Federation requirements and seating for approximately 150 spectators. Two multi-purpose pools with adjustable floors are planned for swimming lessons, schools, rehabilitation and baby swimming. The project also includes a smaller family water-play area, a shared sauna and several changing areas. The new Gislebadet is planned to accommodate around 150,000 visitors annually. Its entrance will be integrated with the existing sports hall and other activities in the Gisle area. The architectural concept draws inspiration from the nature and local history of Småland, including large windows overlooking surrounding green areas. The project has a budget of SEK 341 million at 2024 price levels, with an estimated construction period of approximately 33 months. Gislaved Municipality expects the new swimming facility to be completed during 2029. The existing Gislebadet will remain open during the construction period.
