Detailed description

ByggDialog has begun construction of a new wastewater treatment plant in Älvdalen, Sweden, on behalf of Nodava and Älvdalens Vatten AB (ÄVA). The project represents an investment of approximately SEK 230 million and aims to strengthen local wastewater treatment infrastructure. The existing facility, built in the early 1960s, uses mechanical and chemical treatment processes. The new plant will also incorporate biological treatment, increasing capacity from 4,000 to 7,000 population equivalents. Construction was officially marked by representatives of Nodava and ÄVA assembling the first reinforcement steel rather than holding a traditional groundbreaking ceremony. A key challenge is maintaining operations at the existing wastewater treatment plant throughout construction. With only approximately four metres separating the existing and new buildings, the project requires careful construction planning, coordination and site logistics. The new facility will also include operational premises and staff facilities for Nodava. The Älvdalen project is the third wastewater treatment plant delivered under ByggDialog's strategic partnering arrangement with Nodava. The contractor has recently completed the treatment plant in Idre and has also started construction of a new facility in Orsa. The new Älvdalen wastewater treatment plant is scheduled to enter operation around the turn of 2028–2029.
