ByggPartner begins SEK 429 million care home project in Sandviken

ByggPartner has begun work on Björkbacken, a residential care facility on Lasarettsleden in Sandviken, commissioned by Sandviken Municipality. The contract is valued at SEK 429 million, with construction expected to continue until 2029. The project includes detailed design and a combination of renovation, extensions and new construction across several interconnected buildings. The completed facility will provide 135 residential units, communal areas, a commercial kitchen, staff facilities, and technical and service spaces. It will be fully accessible and adapted to residents living with dementia. Sandviken Municipality has chosen to preserve and upgrade parts of the existing buildings rather than replace the entire facility. This approach is intended to reduce resource consumption while providing modern accommodation and improved working environments for care staff. The project will be delivered under a design-and-build contract, including external groundworks. ByggPartner is responsible for delivering the development, which will expand and modernize the municipality's residential care capacity.
